I first read Anton Lavey's Satanic Bible when I was 17. It was a great book, and I felt it really opened my eyes to a view point that initially I had no idea about. I found it quite interesting. I had pondered about what it meant to be a god in the past before hand, but thought it was something that a human couldn't do. Once I read Lavey's book, however, I learned that this could be a path that someone walks, and embraced it. I remember the initial thought in my head of wondering "what am I supposed to do" being replaced with "I can do what I want to do". I felt free. At this time I don't consider myself a Satanist, though the Church of Satan has their nostalgia with me.
